Emery, Nagelsmann tipped to replace Carrick

Manchester United reportedly identified two leading candidates to replace Michael Carrick as pressure accumulates  on the under-fire manager.

A disastrous start to the season left Carrick fighting for his job, with United winning just two of their opening 11 matches.

According to The Guardian, Aston Villa boss Unai Emery and former Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann are among the club’s preferred options should they decide to make a change.

United’s humiliating 4-1 Champions League defeat to Como on Wednesday has intensified speculation over Carrick’s future.

Emery remains under contract at Villa until 2029, with the potential compensation package presenting a significant obstacle.

Nagelsmann, meanwhile, is available after leaving his role with Germany following their World Cup exit and is reportedly interested in taking charge at Old Trafford.
