Mosimane to give fringe players a chance
Pitso Mosimane has confirmed that the friendly match against Egypt will be used to give some of the younger players a chance to establish themselves in a Bafana shirt.
“This is a friendly game and we need to see what they are capable of at this level. So, we plead for patience and support for these youngsters,” the Bafana Bafana coach told the SAFA media department.
“The country must understand that we have played the qualifiers against Guinea and Eritrea and we are done. That is the most important thing.
“It is important to build for the next FIFA World Cup and if we don’t put them in now, when are we going to see them? We do not have friendly games until the Africa Cup of Nations next year, so this is the only chance they have.”
South African end the period off in top position in Group D on the road to AFCON 2027. While a positive result against Egypt with be a top priority, blooding new players into the setup to build depth for the busy period ahead will be key.
