The first trophy of the season is up for grabs when Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns lock horns at the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, 10 October 2026.
The Buccaneers are looking to make it four consecutive MTN8 triumphs while Sundowns are desperate to win some domestic silverware after missing out last season.
Abdeslam Ouaddou’s side booked their place in the final after a convincing 4-0 on aggregate victory over Sekhukhune United.
Sundowns on the other hand had to fight hard to book their place in the final via the away goal rule following a 3-3 draw against Golden Arrows over two legs.
MTN8 final: Match details
The 2026 MTN8 final will take place at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, 10 October 2026, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00.
This season’s winners will take home a R10 million grand prize, while the runners-up will pocket R1 million for their efforts.
Recent history favors the Buccaneers in this competition. Orlando Pirates overcame Sundowns via a penalty shootout in last season’s semi-finals, mirroring their dramatic victory over Masandawana in the 2023 final.
In fact, you have to go as far back as 2007 for Sundowns’ last Top 8 cup victory over Pirates, when they secured a 1-0 win to claim the title.
