South African coach Eric Tinkler looks set for a swift return to the PSL after abruptly parting ways with Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko.
Tinkler joined the record 25-time Ghanaian league champions at the beginning of the season following his departure from Sekhukhune United earlier this year.
The 56-year-old manager experienced a sluggish start to life in West Africa, picking up just one win and two draws before last weekend.
While he suffered his first defeat of the campaign over the weekend, the writing appeared to be on the wall with a high-profile vacancy suddenly opening up at Durban City FC.
City recently showed Khalil Ben Youssef the door after just three months at the helm, and Tinkler is now heavily tipped for a reunion with City club boss Farouk Kadodia.
“iDiskiTimes can confirm that Tinkler is set to take charge of the head coach role at Durban-based outfit after the exit of Khalil Ben Youssef,” the publication reported.
Tinkler worked well with Kadodia during his two-year spell at Maritzburg United between 2018 and 2020. In total, he has over 350 matches under his coaching belt in the PSL.
As far as trophies are concerned, Tinkler lifted the Telkom Knockout title in 2016 with Cape Town City and the MTN8 Cup a season later with SuperSport United.
