Pitso Mosimane names his first competitive team since returning as Bafana Bafana coach this Saturday, as South Africa host Guinea at Orlando Amstel Arena in their opening 2027 AFCON qualifier.
With a host of selection questions across the pitch, Soccermag and Soccerzela have each named their own predicted starting XI, and there’s plenty to agree, and disagree, on.

Williams; Sebelebele, Okon, Makhanya, Modiba; Sithole, Mokoena; Maseko, Mofokeng, Appollis; Rayners
Soccerzela’s selection leans on continuity, with Iqraam Rayners preferred up top as the focal point of the attack, flanked by Thapelo Maseko and Oswin Appollis either side of Relebohile Mofokeng in the number 10 role.
At the back, Kamogelo Sebelebele is trusted at right-back, with Aubrey Modiba on the left.

Soccermag’s XI (4-2-3-1)
Williams; Modiba, Okon, Makhanya, Morena; Mokoena, Sithole; Appollis, Mofokeng, Maseko; Mailula
Soccermag’s team have gone with a similar lineup through the spine, picking the same back three of Okon, Makhanya and goalkeeper Ronwen Williams, and Mofokeng again occupying the number 10 role.
The key differences come at full-back, with Thapelo Morena picked at right-back and Modiba also on the left, and up top, where Cassius Mailula gets the nod as the central striker ahead of Rayners.
