On 20 September 2009, Michael Owen produced one of the defining moments of his Manchester United career with a dramatic late winner against Manchester City.
The Manchester derby at Old Trafford had already delivered six goals before Owen struck in added time to give Sir Alex Ferguson’s side a 4-3 Premier League victory.

Wayne Rooney gave United an early lead before Gareth Barry equalised for City.
Darren Fletcher twice restored United’s advantage in the second half, only for Craig Bellamy to respond on both occasions. Bellamy’s second goal made it 3-3 late on and appeared to have rescued a point for the visitors.
There was still time for one final twist.
Ryan Giggs found Owen inside the area and the striker calmly guided his finish beyond Shay Given to send Old Trafford into celebration and seal a seven-goal classic.
