Manchester United 2-3 Brighton
Manchester United’s problems deepened as they blew a two-goal lead to crash out of the League Cup at home to Brighton.
Shea Lacey and Mason Mount put United ahead inside 10 minutes, Lacey scoring his first goal for the club, before Charalampos Kostoulas pulled one back just before half-time.
Pascal Groß equalised in the 65th minute, and Maxim De Cuyper completed the turnaround five minutes later to send Michael Carrick’s side out.
It was the first time in 50 years United had lost a match after leading 2-0 at home, and follows their controversial 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday, a result PGMOL later admitted involved a wrongly awarded VAR goal.

Coventry 1-3 Aston Villa
Aston Villa won for just the second time this season, with Tammy Abraham scoring twice at the CBS Arena.
Abraham opened the scoring in the seventh minute before Victor Torp levelled with a free-kick, and Ross Barkley restored Villa’s lead just before half-time with a header from Ibrahim Mbaye’s corner.
Abraham added a second in the 59th minute to seal the win for Unai Emery’s side.
Everton 1-0 Wolves
Substitute Charly Alcaraz settled a tight contest with second-tier Wolves, curling home the only goal of the game in the 80th minute.
Fleetwood Town 1-0 Sheffield United
Fourth-tier Fleetwood Town produced the shock of the round, beating Championship side Sheffield United to reach the fourth round for the first time in their history.

Tuesday’s results
Arsenal won 4-2 at Ipswich, Liverpool beat Tottenham 3-1, Fulham claimed a 3-2 win at West Ham, and Brentford won 2-1 at Reading.
Holders Manchester City host Norwich on Thursday to complete the round.
