Milan are unbeaten in six previous European meetings with Benfica, winning four and drawing two, while Sunderland return to the continental stage after a 53-year absence.

Thursday sees Bournemouth make their European debut with a difficult trip to Real Sociedad, while Crystal Palace step up to the Europa League after winning last season’s Conference League.
Juventus also begin their campaign at home against NEC, Celtic welcome Ferencvaros and Marseille face a testing trip to Besiktas.
All 36 teams will play eight different opponents during the league phase, with the top eight advancing directly to the round of 16 and teams finishing ninth to 24th entering the knockout phase play-offs.
