Late Grobler strike steals a point for Stellies

Bradley Grobler came back to haunt his former side Sekhukhune United on Friday night at the Athlone Stadium.

Stellenbosch FC welcomed a wounded Sekhukhune United side to the Athlone Stadium on Friday evening for an important Betway Premiership encounter.

The Cape side were looking to get back to winning ways after dropping points in their previous two matches while Babina Noko were themselves hoping to end their four-match winless run.

With neither side willing to give an inch, openings were hard to come by in a tight first half in Cape Town.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 63rd minute when Bethuel Muzeu tucked away a close-range finish after getting on the end of Bradley Mojela’s cross.

However, just as Sekhukhune looked set to claim all three points, Bradley Grobler popped up to level matters for Stellenbosch with his maiden goal for the club in the 88th minute.

The veteran marksman steered home a pin-point cross with a delicate touch into the bottom corner, leaving Melusi Buthelezi with no chance.

The draw leaves the visitors 5th on the log with eight points from six games, while Stellies sit in 8th position with six points from as many games.
