Mamelodi Sundowns welcomed Milford FC to Loftus Versfeld this evening for a crunch Betway Premiership clash.
The pressure was on Miguel Cardoso’s side after Orlando Pirates moved three points clear in emphatic fashion last night, however the Brazilians delivered a quality performance to see off a spirited Milford side.
Iqraam Rayners gave the hosts the lead on the stroke of half-time from close range after some good work by Aubrey Modiba down the left-flank.
Antonio Van Wyk then calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner after receiving a quality through ball from Modiba in the 76th minute.
Despite going down 2-0 on the night, there were many positives to take from the match for Milford who showed glimpses of what they’re capable of.
Unfortunately for Dr Xanti Pupuma’s side, finishing wasn’t their strongest part of their game in Tshwane, squandering a number of chances.
The victory for Mamelodi Sundowns means they move joint-top of the table on 13 points, only behind Orlando Pirates on goal difference while Milford remain in 5th position after five matches.
