Paul Pogba has left Monaco after the Ligue 1 club confirmed a mutual termination of his contract, the Athletic reports, bringing his time at the club to a close after just one season.
The 33-year-old had signed a two-year deal with Monaco in June 2025, but leaves having made only six appearances totalling 115 minutes.
He suffered a hamstring injury on Tuesday during Monaco’s pre-season tour of England at St George’s Park, an injury expected to sideline him for several months, though talks over ending his contract had reportedly been ongoing for weeks beforehand.

His only start came in a 58-minute outing during a 2-1 win away at Metz on 2 May.
In a statement following the announcement, Pogba thanked Monaco’s president, staff and supporters, saying representing the club had been “an incredible experience” despite not playing as many games as he’d hoped.
Monaco’s head of sport and business, Thiago Scuro, praised Pogba’s influence in the dressing room, particularly on younger players, and called his conduct throughout “exemplary.”

Pogba’s career began at Le Havre before spells at Manchester United and Juventus, each twice, alongside 91 caps for France that included a starring role in their 2018 World Cup win.
He returned to professional football only in March 2025 after an 18-month doping ban, initially handed down as a four-year suspension before being reduced on appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
