Guimaraes brings further quality to a midfield already containing Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi, while Tzolis gives Arteta another direct attacking option.
Both Guimaraes and Tzolis impressed in Arsenal’s 3-0 Community Shield victory over City. Tzolis supplied two assists, while the Brazilian looked comfortable during his first start following a £75 million move from Newcastle.

Captain Martin Odegaard remains central to Arteta’s plans after an injury-disrupted campaign. Arsenal will hope the Norwegian can rediscover his best form alongside Bukayo Saka, Eberechi Eze and Kai Havertz.

The Gunners possess quality in every department, with David Raya protected by a defence containing William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Riccardo Calafiori and Hincapie. Their depth should allow Arteta to rotate without significantly weakening his lineup.
Arsenal begin their title defence at home against promoted Coventry City on Friday. Their rivals have strengthened, but the champions remain the team to beat.
