The 33-year-old first played for PSG between 2013 and 2015 before moves to Roma, Barcelona, Everton and eventually Villa, where he spent four years and helped the club win last season’s Europa League under Unai Emery.
“I am very honoured to be returning to Paris Saint-Germain,” Digne said in a statement. “I am particularly impressed by how the club has developed over the years.”
He becomes PSG’s third signing of the summer, following goalkeeper Alessandro Longoni and fellow Frenchman Maghnes Akliouche from Monaco, and reunites with head coach Luis Enrique, who previously managed him at Barcelona.
Capped 64 times, Digne was a first-choice left-back for France at this year’s World Cup.
He is expected to serve as understudy to Nuno Mendes, with a possible debut against his former club in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday.
Digne is the third key Villa player to leave this summer, following Morgan Rogers to Chelsea and Youri Tielemans to Manchester United.
