Kaizer Chiefs were dumped out of the 2026 MTN8 after going down to Golden Arrows on Sunday evening at the FNB Stadium.
The tournament’s record-holders were looking to qualify for the semi-finals for the first time since 2023, however, it wasn’t to be for Fernando Da Cruz’s side.
Khulekani Shezi’s 53rd-minute strike deflected off Amakhosi goalkeeper Brandon Petersen to open the scoring for the visitors.
Despite piling on the pressure in the closing stages, Kaizer Chiefs were unable to find an equaliser and crashed out at the first hurdle.
MTN8 semi-finals confirmed
The victory for Arrows means they proceed to the last four, where they’ll face Mamelodi Sundowns. In the other semi-final, Orlando Pirates will face Sekhukhune United.
The semi-finals will be played over two legs on a home-and-away basis. Further details regarding dates, venues, and times will be confirmed in due course.
