Watch: Man United’s £1.4bn debt explained

Manchester United are one of the biggest brands in the world, but under the ownership of the Glazers, have spiralled into unimaginable levels of debt.

The club’s total debt has climbed to £1.4 billion in 2026, according to their own financial results, while interest payments alone since the Glazers’ 2005 leveraged takeover have already surpassed £1 billion.

The family bought United for £790 million using borrowed money, a structure that has burdened the club with debt ever since, despite consistently record breaking commercial revenues.
