After years of uncertainty and continuous loan spells away from the club, Orlando Pirates are finally preparing to cut ties with midfielder Goodman Mosele on a permanent basis.
The 26-year-old has technically been on the club’s books for five years, but has only actually spent two seasons playing in Mayfair. For the rest of that time, he has been sent out on loan to Chippa United.
Mosele arrived at Pirates in 2021 after setting the Limpopo province alight. In his debut season, he made 31 appearances and looked completely immovable in the middle of the park.
However, things shifted in his second campaign. He featured in just 17 matches as Jose Riveiro increasingly turned to the likes of Thabang Monare, Miguel Timm, and Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo in midfield.
That led to his first loan move to Chippa United in 2023. His impressive form for the Chilli Boys sparked serious debate over whether he should return to Soweto, but the technical team ultimately opted to send him out on loan again for the 2024/25 campaign.
After battling with injuries during that stretch, Mosele was loaned back to Chippa United once more last season, racking up 30 appearances. Now, reports suggest Chippa United are working to sign him on a permanent basis.
“Orlando Pirates midfielder Goodman Mosele is understood to be edging closer to a permanent move to Chippa United, the Siya crew has been informed,” a Soccer Laduma report read.
Earlier reports suggested Mosele was on Durban City FC’s radar, but that potential move to KwaZulu-Natal now looks to have been stalled as Chippa United push to snap him up on a permanent deal.
