France’s route through this World Cup has been less about style and more about getting results, and there is no problem with that approach according to Shaun Bartlett.
“They’re grinding out results, I could put it that way,” Bartlett said on Sportpesa’s Shaun Bartlett World Cup Special. “Sometimes it’s just about getting the job done, not so much about the performance, but getting the job done, getting through to the next stage.”
“Whether you win by the penalty or a normal goal, it doesn’t matter, you’re in the next round, and I think that’s the important thing.”

Bartlett pointed to France’s depth of winning experience as a key factor heading into the semi-final. “It’s always been France. Across the board, they’ve got winners, they’ve got league winners, Champions League winners, World Cup winners, and I think that’s the important thing.”
“The coach even knows, he played in ’98 as well. He knows how to win this trophy.” He added that those small details could ultimately be what gives France the edge they are chasing this year.
