Why PSG are the pick to win the Champions League

Paris Saint-Germain face Arsenal in Saturday's Champions League final and the case for PSG winning is compelling - here is why the defending champions should retain their title.

PSG have scored 44 goals in this season’s Champions League – the second highest tally in a single campaign in the competition’s history. They have scored in 27 consecutive matches and have failed to find the net just once across the entire European campaign.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been the standout player of the tournament. His 10 goals match Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s PSG Champions League record and he has scored or assisted in seven consecutive knockout appearances – a run only one player in history has matched.

In midfield, Vitinha has completed more than 220 line-breaking passes – roughly 40 more than any other player in the competition. Luis Enrique’s Champions League win rate of 64 percent is the best of any manager with 50-plus matches in the competition’s history.

Arsenal, meanwhile, play their 63rd and final match of the season on Saturday. PSG wrapped up Ligue 1 weeks ago and managed their squad accordingly. Fatigue is a real factor.

Arsenal will score – Bukayo Saka has five goals and three assists in six Champions League matches against Ligue 1 opposition and their set-piece threat is the best in Europe. But PSG’s firepower, freshness and experience of winning from this position make them the pick.
