AmaZulu struggled to respond and made changes at the interval, introducing Mondli Mbanjwa and Andiswe Sithole. However, Pirates maintained control and continued to create chances.
Mbuthuma went close early in the second half after being sent through by Appollis, but his effort drifted wide.
The third goal arrived on the hour mark. Nkosikhona Ndaba set up Mofokeng, who struck from distance to take his tally to 10 league goals this season.

Pirates had the chance to extend the lead further when they were awarded a penalty for handball, but Mofokeng struck the crossbar from the spot.
Despite that miss, the hosts remained comfortable and saw out the match without further threat from AmaZulu.
