Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams has called on supporters to back Lyle Foster, as the striker comes under pressure following recent performances.
According to iDiski Times, Foster has faced criticism from fans after missing chances in recent matches, despite remaining South Africa’s first-choice forward.
Williams acknowledged the situation but stressed that Foster’s quality is not in doubt, pointing to the challenges he is also facing at club level with Burnley.
“Lyle is a big boy. You don’t play in the Premiership for so many years if you don’t have quality,” Williams said.
He added that the striker is going through a difficult period but continues to work for the team and show the right attitude.

“For him to wake up every day, show up, miss chances, and go again – that’s all we can ask. Eventually, the ball will go in the back of the net.”
Williams also highlighted the importance of confidence for forwards, noting that a single goal can shift momentum.
The Bafana captain reiterated Foster’s importance to the national side, referencing his contributions at AFCON and his role in the team’s attacking structure.
“He’s our powerhouse up front. He’s been amazing for us. We need him in good spirits,” Williams said.
He urged supporters to remain behind the striker, adding that backing players through difficult moments is key.
“Support him in good and bad moments, because he will score goals.”
