Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has confirmed Relebohile Mofokeng will be used in a central role going forward, following his recent performances for Orlando Pirates.
According to iDiski Times, the 21-year-old will no longer be considered as a winger in the national setup, with Broos identifying him as a long-term option behind the striker.
Mofokeng underlined his form with a hat-trick in Pirates’ 6-0 win over TS Galaxy, continuing a run where he has featured more regularly in a central position.
Broos said the midfielder has grown into the role after a challenging period earlier in his career.

“He’s in good shape now,” Broos said. “There was a time when everything came very quickly for him and it became difficult to manage, which is normal for a young player.”
The Bafana coach added that Mofokeng’s strengths are better suited to a central role rather than out wide.
“He’s playing more central and this is his future. He’s not a winger. His qualities are his intelligence, his passing and how he uses space.”
Mofokeng has been included in the squad to face Panama in two upcoming friendlies, where he is expected to operate as one of the attacking midfield options alongside Themba Zwane.
The Pirates star has registered 14 goal contributions this season and will look to carry that form into the national team setup.
