Thomas Tuchel has recalled Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire in a 35-man England squad for pre-World Cup friendlies against Uruguay and Japan.
Leeds forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin also returned from the international wilderness while Everton midfielder James Garner received his first England call-up.
Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham is included even though he has not played since early February due to a hamstring injury but there was no place for Trent Alexander-Arnold, Luke Shaw or Ollie Watkins.
Experienced centre-back Maguire, 33, will have the chance to add to his 64 international appearances while Euro 2024 final starter Mainoo, 20, is back in the fold.
The pair last played for their country in September 2024 but have been rewarded for United’s recent good run of form, which has lifted them to third in the Premier League.

Shaw, 30, was another United player pushing to be involved but has once again been overlooked, with Tuchel instead calling up Newcastle’s Lewis Hall for the first time since he took charge.
Tuchel has selected a larger squad than usual, with players reporting to camp in two stages across the window.
“I am happy and excited to be back,” Tuchel told reporters. “This March camp is a unique one. We have already qualified, and our players are at a crucial stage in their club seasons.
“It’s the last chance to impress and compete for a spot. That is why we have spilt the squad.”
England manager Tuchel has selected United players for the first time since taking charge at the start of last year.
“Manchester United have had an outstanding run since Michael Carrick took charge, and Harry and Kobbie have been a big part of that,” said the German.
“This is the last camp before the trip to the US, so it’s also my final chance to get to know new players, to learn about them, and see how they fit in.
“Harry isn’t a new player in an England shirt, of course, but he’s new to me in this camp.”
Among the players who will skip the Uruguay match at Wembley on March 27 and join the squad for the Japan game four days later are Declan Rice, Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka.
The World Cup, taking place in Canada, Mexico and the United States, starts on June 11, with England among the favourites.
