Morris emerges as loan option to Stellies

Kaizer Chiefs forward Tashreeq Morris is reportedly under consideration for a loan move to Stellenbosch FC, with limited game time and a prior working relationship with coach Gavin Hunt shaping discussions around his short-term future.

Kaizer Chiefs striker Tashreeq Morris could be set for a temporary move to Stellenbosch FC as both clubs assess their options ahead of the next phase of the season.

The 31-year-old joined Chiefs in January 2025 following the dissolution of SuperSport United but has struggled to establish himself in the Amakhosi starting line-up.

Since his arrival, Morris has made 11 competitive appearances across all competitions, nine in the Betway Premiership and one each in the Nedbank Cup and Carling Knockout Cup without registering a goal.

Injuries have contributed to his limited involvement, including a setback suffered in March last season. As a result, the centre-forward has featured only once in the current campaign.

iDiskiTimes indicate that Stellenbosch FC are monitoring Morris’ situation following the appointment of Gavin Hunt as head coach. Hunt previously worked with the striker at SuperSport United and later explored a reunion during his tenure at Durban City, although that move did not materialise.

Morris remains under contract at Kaizer Chiefs until June 2027, having signed a two-and-a-half-year deal upon his arrival. Any potential loan would therefore be viewed as a short-term solution aimed at restoring match fitness and form.
