Al Hilal have reached a verbal agreement with Liverpool to sign striker Darwin Núñez in a deal worth €53 million plus add-ons, according to The Athletic.
The 26-year-old Uruguay international is open to making the move, and while no formal confirmation has been issued by either club, the transfer is progressing.
Liverpool have permitted Núñez to enter negotiations with the Saudi Pro League side, and should terms be finalised, he could link up with Al Hilal’s squad at their training camp in Germany.
Núñez had also attracted interest from AC Milan, but the Italian club were unlikely to match the financial terms offered by Al Hilal. Back in January, Liverpool rejected a €70 million bid from Al Nassr, preferring to keep the striker during a competitive second half of the campaign.

Signed from Benfica in 2022 for up to €100 million, Núñez has scored 40 goals across three seasons at Anfield. However, he started just eight Premier League games during the 2024-25 season, as Liverpool secured their 20th league title under Arne Slot.
This move would be viewed as another high-profile acquisition for Al Hilal and the Saudi Pro League, with Núñez still in the prime of his career.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have been active in the market. They’ve already signed Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, and Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt. The club also saw a £110 million bid for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak turned down earlier in the window.
