SuperSport United sold to Siwelele F.C.

SuperSport International has confirmed the sale of its Premier Soccer League club, SuperSport United, to Siwelele Football Club (Pty) Ltd, pending approval from the PSL Executive Committee.

The three-time Premiership champions were sold following a closed bidding process, with Siwelele F.C. emerging as the successful bidder. SuperSport CEO Rendani Ramovha said the sale is part of a strategic shift to focus on SuperSport’s core business as Africa’s leading sports broadcaster.

“Shifts in the market, as well as the need to innovate… have necessitated focused direction,” said Ramovha.

Siwelele F.C. chairman Calvin Le John expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to take over a club with a winning legacy: “We are privileged to continue with a rich tradition in the PSL.”

All parties, including MultiChoice, will not comment further until the PSL Executive Committee makes its final decision on the transfer of ownership.
