Palmeiras and Al Hilal booked their places in the FIFA Club World Cup quarter-finals after dramatic Round-of-16 victories that saw several favourites stumble.
Palmeiras edged fellow Brazilian side Botafogo 1-0 to set up a last-eight clash with Chelsea, the sole Premier League representative remaining after their 4-1 win over Benfica.
Manchester City were eliminated in a seven-goal thriller, falling 4-3 to Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal. The Saudi side now face Fluminense, who knocked out Inter Milan 2-0.
