Ronaldo to earn £500m in Saudi Arabia

Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a record-breaking contract extension with Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, reportedly worth over £500 million across two years. The new deal makes the 39-year-old the highest-paid athlete in history.

According to The Sun, Ronaldo’s base salary is now £488,000 per day, with a reported £25 million signing bonus. That figure could rise to £38 million should he trigger a second year. In addition, he has allegedly been handed a 15% stake in Al-Nassr, estimated at £33 million, and access to a private jet worth £4 million in travel perks.

The deal also includes Ronaldo acting as a “dream ambassador” for Saudi Arabia, potentially bringing his total earnings over two years to more than £500 million. This comes amid ongoing efforts by the Saudi Pro League to grow its international influence through marquee signings and sponsorship deals.

Ronaldo’s lifestyle under the new deal reflects the scale of the investment. Reports claim that Al-Nassr will cover the costs of 16 full-time staff for Ronaldo and his family, including chefs, drivers, security personnel, and housekeepers — totalling an estimated £1.4 million annually.

Despite speculation about his future after a second consecutive trophyless season, Ronaldo confirmed on social media that he will remain at Al-Nassr, writing: “A new chapter begins. Same passion, same dream. Let’s make history together.”

Since joining the club in December 2022, Ronaldo has scored 99 goals in 111 matches, including 35 goals in all competitions last season. He remains the Saudi Pro League’s top scorer for the second straight year and continues to close in on his career target of 1,000 goals — he currently sits on 938.

Ronaldo’s latest deal reinforces his status not just as a football icon, but as one of the most marketable athletes in global sport history.
