Messi and Suárez launch new club, Deportivo LSM

Inter Miami stars Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez have embarked on a new footballing venture, founding Uruguayan fourth-tier club Deportivo LSM.

The former Barcelona teammates—now lighting up MLS—announced the project on social media, marking the latest chapter in their legendary careers.

For Suárez, the move is deeply personal. “Today, I want to give back to Uruguayan football—the game I fell in love with as a child,” he said. “Through this club, we aim to provide opportunities and tools for young players to grow. Competing under the AUF (Uruguayan Football Federation) is an exciting step, not just for me but for my family, in a project we truly believe in.”

The club’s name, LSM, is a nod to the iconic duo, blending their initials.

Messi echoed the sentiment, calling it a shared dream. “This is just the beginning,” he said. “We’ve been through so much together since we were kids—countless highs in football—and now, this project allows us to keep sharing our vision of the game, just like we always have.”

The initiative reflects their commitment to nurturing talent while staying connected to their roots.
